What is Salvation?
HERITAGE is a Baptist church and we are glad to be a Baptist church, but we want you to understand that no church can save you, not even a Baptist church. No one but Jesus alone can forgive you of all your sins and give you eternal life.
Let me ask you a very solemn question – Where will you spend eternity? Will you spend it in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ, or in hell with the devil and his angels?
The Scripture tells us in Matthew 7:13-14 that there are two major roads that people travel on in their lives. The first one is a broad road, a wrong road, which leads to destruction. The other is a narrow road, the right road, which leads to life everlasting. In order to be on the right road, there are six truths which you should know:
1. You are a sinner that needs to be saved: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
2. There is a penalty for sin: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
3. You cannot save yourself: “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
4. Jesus has provided for your salvation: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: “BY WHOSE STRIPES YE WERE HEALED.” I Peter 2:24
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
5. You must accept Jesus for salvation: “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31
6. Now is the time to accept Jesus as your personal Savior before it is too late: “...behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” II Corinthians 6:2
Dear Friend: Which road are you on today? There is only one way that leads to heaven. Though it be a narrow road, it is a blessed road that God has provided through his Son, Jesus Christ and his finished work on Calvary. God promises forgiveness and eternal life to each one who admits he or she is a sinner on the wrong road, and choose to turn to God and HIS way. It is your choice, but let me urge you, trust Jesus today and accept His free gift of salvation. If you have any questions please contact us.
